Social event – Tate Modern

ABC School's students went to Tate Modern on 13th February. We had a great time and saw many interesting art treasures.

Tate Modern established in 2000, 20 years ago, this modern art gallery is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the world. It welcomes approximately 5.9 million of visitors last year.

Tate Modern became the UK’s most visited attraction in 2018. For the first time in 11 years, Tate Modern had more visitors than the British Museum. Tate Modern attracted 5.87 million visitors and The British Museum, 5.83 million visitors. A little difference but important.

Tate Modern has been built into a power station disused, originally designed Giles Gilbert Scott between 1947 and 1963. But the power closed then. They first think about demolishing this building, but people didn’t agree and gave some suggestions for new uses.

We spent two hours in different galleries, discovering many works of art and finished with a beautiful view of London on the rooftop. After visiting Tate Modern we went to a pub together.
