New Year Resolutions
Traditionally the New Year is a time to make resolutions. A resolution is a decision to act. From the verb to resolve which means to decide to do. Very often New Year resolutions relate to health. They communicate a determination to do something positive to improve your health.
Typical New Year resolutions are to give up smoking or to start visiting the gym three times a week. If you are studying English, you might want to make use of this light-hearted tradition to help you improve your English. Maybe you are not pronouncing your regular verb endings /t/, /d/ and /ɪd/ correctly, i.e., washed /woʃt/, moved /mu:vd/ and lasted /la:stɪd/.
