Lilian is attending the Callan Method English course and is currently at the pre intermediate level. We have interviewed her about her experience in London and at
ABC School of English.
Thank you for taking the time to do the interview Lilian, we have learnt so much about you! Thank you very much for your lovely words about the School :-)
Could you please tell me something about yourself: studies, job, hobbies?
I’m a lawyer in Brazil and an English student in London. I love traveling, reading, watching movies and I’m passionate about photography.
Why did you decide to come to London?
My husband came to do a fellowship at King's College hospital and in the meantime I’m taking the opportunity to learn English and get to know some British culture.
How do you find life in London?
London is a charming city. Here, there are programs for all tastes and there is always something new around the city. I love walking through parks, exploring markets, discovering hidden gems, finding new restaurants, enjoying a good drink in a pub, biking around my neighborhood, wandering through the alleys of Convent Garden and admiring the beauties of this fascinating city.
Why did you choose ABC school?
I actually found the school quite randomly. I was researching some schools in London on the internet and was lucky enough to find the school's website. On the website, I read that the school adopts the Callan method. I had never heard of this method before. So, I did a pre-search to find out more about this method and I thought it might be a good fit for me.
Are you enjoying your lessons?
Yes, I'm really enjoying my classes. The Callan method is an effective and dynamic method that makes lessons fun and interactive. The teachers are very qualified and friendly. Arguably, the school has a good team.
John is competent, enthusiastic, fun and energetic, which helps keep students more motivated during the learning process. Moreover, he explains each subject in a dynamic way and often adds interesting information and extra tips apart from what's in the book.
As for Sue, she’s lovely, kind and attentive to detail, therefore she can see exactly what students need to improve, and with that, she has the ability to polish and improve pronunciation in a unique way.
Bozena, who is always available at reception to help, is very kind, thoughtful, and caring. Bozena is helpful, competent and replies to emails quickly.
Furthermore, the school values the social engagement of students, as it’s always
promoting social events on a monthly basis. Although the school's place is small, the atmosphere is cozy and the location is incredible.
What are your plans for the future?
At the moment, my main goal is to improve my English and, who knows, maybe achieve fluency someday.
