Internship in London: Lea’s Experience
- Could you tell us a bit more about yourself?
My name is Lea. I am a 21 year old French student studying Management and I am doing my internship here to validate my Bachelor degree. I love travelling and I have visited several countries like Tunisia, Egypt, Malta, Greece, Spain and Belgium. I am also a cat lover and I have a cat that I love like a child.
- Why did you choose London? Is it your first time in London? Do you like it?
I decided to choose London for my twelve week internship because I think it’s the best place to improve my English in a short time and London isn’t too far from my country. It’s my third time in London but this time will have been the longest. I like life in London but I miss French food a lot.
- What would you recommend doing in London?
If I had to recommend doing something in London, it would be to visit different neighbourhoods to see what real life in London is like. I would also recommend seeing things like Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace and Madame Tussauds. I know, these are touristic things but if you went to Paris and you didn’t visit the Eiffel Tower, it would be strange. Another thing that I recommend is using the tube like a real Londoner.
- Is this internship your first experience abroad? How do you feel about it?
This internship is my first professional experience abroad. My other experiences abroad were just holidays. This time is also different because I’m travelling alone.
I felt stressed on my arrival because I was alone in a different country but I feel curious now. I hope to discover a lot of new things here during my internship.
- Why do you think you will benefit from doing this internship?
I will become more courageous and my English should improve. At least, I hope it will. I will discover what it is like to work in a professional environment in London. Thanks to my internship I will be able to explore London and other cities in England. I intend to visit Brighton for example.
- What are your plans after the internship?
After my internship, I will return to France and work in July before going on holiday in August. In September I will start a Master’s in Management in the hope of one day becoming a Commercial Director.
