How to describe yourself in Job applications
Many of our students at ABC are studying in order to find work in London or to improve their job prospects.
Here’s a useful list of phrases to help you in your search…
I perform well under pressure – this is a phrase you can use to show you’re capable of working in stressful situations and when deadlines are short.
I’m used to working in a busy environment – similar to the previous phrase. You can use this to avoid repeating yourself.
Customer-oriented means you value customers and you understand the importance of being polite and efficient when dealing with them.
Meeting targets is a professional way of saying ‘getting things done on time.’
Team player – if you’re a person who gets on well with others and enjoys collaborating with colleagues on tasks this is a good way to describe yourself.
Can-do attitude expresses a positive approach to work. You try to find solutions to challenging problems when others might give up or pass the task to another person.
Results driven – this is a phrase used to show that you have the drive to succeed, with an emphasis on completing tasks and meeting targets.
Eager to learn – employers always respond well to applicants who are keen to develop their skills. This is a good phrase to show your willingness to take on new challenges and grow.
Good at multitasking - useful for when you have to juggle a lot of responsibilities at the same time.
I’m a problem solver – if you enjoy the challenge of creating solutions to complex situations, this phrase shows you can be the person who can deliver the answers.
