Country of the month - Germany
We have interviewed our lovely student Julian Wahn about his home country, Germany.
Thank you, Julian, for giving us the opportunity to explore Germany through your words.
- What is the capital of your country? Which language(s) do you speak?
Germany’s capital is Berlin (with a population of 3.8 million). This city is constantly growing and changing. Berlin is internationally known for its vibrant art and culture scene. But Germany is much more than Berlin.
In Germany you can find very varied landscape. From wide sand-beaches and Islands in the north over the romantic Rhine Valley with its castles and palaces to the mountains’ south with endless forests.
I speak two languages German and English. When I went to school it was required to study 1 foreign language. Nowadays students have to choose at least two.
- What is the food speciality of your country?
Germany is famous for bread (more than 3000 different local types), Beer and for wine as well.
- Can you briefly describe your country? (What make your country famous? National sport? Do you have sea or/and mountains in your country?)
The national sport is like in most of the European countries football.
- Why did you come to UK? What do you like the most in London?
It’s common to start studying English in the early childhood when children start visiting the kindergarten. English (and other languages) are today more important than ever. That was also my reason to come to London and improve my language skills.
What I like most in London is the melting point of cultures here. It’s international. There are endless things to see and do here, and a few of the world’s best museum are located in London.
